Homoeopathic medicines act slow?
Not really. Homoeopathy is fast acting in acute conditions such as infections, fever, diarrhea, etc. The chronic and old disease such as psoriasis may take a long time to treat hence homoeopathy has been labeled as slow acting. One must know that homoeopathy is faster in the treatment of conditions such as allergy, asthma, eczema, migraine, arthritis.
When we think of action of medicine on a diseased person, there are multiple factors that are to be considered. It depends on the age of the person, the type of disease, the duration of the suffering, the complications of the present disease, the other diseases which is suffering from, the nature of the disease whether it is fast spreading or slow is it acquired or genetic etc. Not only for homoeopathy for any system of medicine it is necessary to look into all these factors to decide how much time it will take for a medicine to act on a diseased person to give relief. It all depends on the circumstances. Each and every person is individualistic. No two persons suffering from the same disease will not get the result in the same way. We cannot expect the prognosis in the same way. Each and every case is to be treated as a new case. No two cases are alike. But with our experience we may say that this person will get relief in this time. But this also is hypothetical. When compared to other systems of medicines homoeopathy also works well, works fast, gives instant relief also. There are cases where we get good and instant relief. In Acute cases like fevers, diarrhea, jaundice, acute infections we get quick and excellent results. Even in chronic cases when the proper homoeopathic medicine is given instant relief starts and it takes some time for the total disease to be relived. So when we think of efficacy of a system we should consider how fast the relief is obtained and how long will it sustain and without any side effects. The pace of the reaction to a homeopathic medicine depends on the nature of the illness, the vital force of the patient, and the accuracy of the prescription. Response to acute illnesses is often very rapid.
Homoeopathy is useful only for the chronic conditions and has no role for acute ailments.
Homoeopathy has a very wide scope in the treatment of diseases. It can also treat all medically treatable diseases. When we come to classification of diseases in a broad view we can say there are two acute and chronic. An acute disease means disease which is suffered from a short duration of time. If the duration is increased we call as chronic disease. In homoeopathy we treat based on the symptom totality. So it may be acute or it may be a chronic disease it does not make a difference, we treat according to the symptom similarity, of course the approach may be different for acute and chronic. For homoeopathy. There is a scope for the treatment. A chronic disease is not chronic from the beginning. it will start with a simple disease and the slowly becomes chronic. When we say homoeopathy is able to treat such a big chronic disease, why not it can treat a simple acute disease. Yes homoeopathy can treat all medically treatable acute diseases. In the recent days chikungunya (Acute disease – epidemic) was well treated and also been prevented by homoeopathy only. Few years ago also homoeopathic medicines were distributed to prevent encephalitis which is a viral (acute) disease. Homoeopathy can treat all acute disease like: Cold, cough, fever, allergies, Skin diseases like herpes, chicken pox, Measles, Diarrhea, Headaches, Hepatitis, Conjunctivitis, Menstrual pain etc. these are only a few examples where homeopathy has given good and encouraging results.
Is there any diet restriction for using homoeopathic medicines?
Diet restriction means restricting /avoiding certain foods substances which may be harmful or which may delay the process of recovery during the period of treatment. So in general those substances which are not suitable to the disease should be restricted . as it is the case in other systems of medicine the same is the case with homoeopathy. Restriction of diet is for the disease and not for ho0moeopathy. Fro example a if a patient has acidity we ask him to avoid spicy foods, for a diabetic person we ask to avoid sweets, for a hypertensive patient we restrict oily foods, salty products and so on. Even in homoeopathy we follow the same diet restrictions as that of the conventional system.
Since all Homoeopathic medicines are absorbed from the tongue & buccal mucosa ( inner lining of the mouth ) — which is abundantly supplied with nerve endings, it is advised to patients that they refrain from eating or drinking anything for 15-30 minutes before & after taking the Homoeopathic medicine. Also it is wiser to rinse one’s mouth if one has eaten anything strong smelling such as garlic onion etc. Excess of coffee, alcohol, tobacco are restricted (as they are stimulants) esp. in patients who are restless or anxious.
Homoeopathy can only help functional problems such as pain, weakness, where there are no structural changes in the body.
Homoeopathy has proved its efficacy for the treatment of structural pathology. Numerous documented cases where the reversal of the structural pathology has taken place indicating the depth of homoeopathy action. The skeptics should keep the eyes open to evaluate the documented cases.
With Homoeopathy, other conventional medicines such as anti-Hypertensive or Anti-diabetic drugs have to be totally discontinued.
“HOWEVER” this in fact is not a fact. Homoeopathy treats the individual patient as a whole human being in context of the long term health & well being & even with conventional medicines , it is imperative that patients continue their medication which are acting on the physiological plane, but do so judiciously & under the guidance of experienced physicians. Medicines of other systems of medicine can also be used while under homoeopathic treatment. They need not be stopped.
In Cancers, Homoeopathy is not advisable esp. in conjunction with radio- & chemotherapy
he prime role of helping the patient’s immune status & promoting & restoring health is highlighted when Homoeopathic medicines are used to help such patients whose blood counts reduce after chemotherapy & these wonderful pills boost their general resistance.
Homeopathy is an unproved science.
Fact: Homeopathy is based on experimental pharmacological and clinical data. Over the years, homeopathic medicines have been extensively studied for their efficacy in a variety of indications. Clinical studies have been conducted in India as well as other countries. The physical basis of the homeopathic medicines is still not clear but there is enough clinical data to prove its efficacy. All the principles of homeopathy are based on sound logic and experimental data. The significant point in the evolution of Homoeopathic medicines is that they are Clinically Proven on Human Volunteers, which takes into account the Objective & Subjective criterion in doing so these carefully carried out, observed & precisely recorded trials are repeated & reproduced scientifically before their verification & ultimately the manufacture of these remedies which in turn are carefully & meticulously standardized. Thus their purity & potential ability to cure is ensured.
There is a 5 ½ years graduation course which is named as B.H.M.S (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) and also there is a 3 years post graduation course ie MD ( Doctor Medicine) in homoeopathy. Qualified doctors practice Homeopathy, in most parts of the world. In India, there are over 200 homeopathy medical colleges and world over the number is close to 500, which offer degree and post -graduate studies in Homeopathy. At present, there are over 2,00,000 trained homeopaths in India and at least half-million across the globe.
